The Treehouse Hotel, restaurant and cafe in North Sydney has an enviable reputation for great food and service, and is known for its inspiring, eclectic interiors. Working in collaboration with architect John Cochrane, redwah evoked dynamic and inspiring internal and external spaces, with different levels, cosy corners, and an eclectic mix of finishes.

Redwah created a relaxed, vintage style with Cuban influences. The bar and restaurant design concept offers a unique experience across all areas of the venue – the dining space, bar, and a café, along with a versatile alfresco area with complete weather protection suitable for year-round use.

Using traditional materials and robust finishes to achieve the contemporary detailing, and quirky styling elements to pique interest, redwah created an intriguing venue. Timber floors and feature tiles, balanced alongside exposed concrete walls with feature brick wall display niches, add layers of interest while injecting just the right amount of modernity.

The ceiling was designed to expose the concrete slab and the air conditioning ducts, adding a subtle industrial feel. Layers of timber ceiling sections were entwined with ornate plaster rosettes and a metal lattice sculpture with vintage lights, to create an antique vibe.

The design was further enhanced through impeccable styling, to create layers within the bar. This renovation was truly a team effort with the client taking an extremely hands-on role in the process, making it one of redwah’s most enjoyable projects to date.
